WHO IS "JAIMIE'S SIGNING ROOM"?

Hi Guys!

My name is Jaimie Hong, and I am a teenage girl from New Jersey. I am a hearing individual who is extremely passionate about learning ASL and the community surrounding it. Not too long ago, I became captivated by the world of the Deaf and Signing Community. I learned that being Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing is no "disability" or burden; it is a gift that allows people to express themselves in ways that are beautifully unique to any other language in the world. I believe that the enrichening vocabulary and grammar structure of ASL will provide any individual with an experience that a commonly spoken language can never produce.

With this website, I plan on sharing my journey in learning sign language with the public as well as facilitating a community for those interested in ASL to be able to talk about their experiences or curiosities. My mission is to spread awareness on the beauty of signing and hopefully contribute to a society that normalizes the use of sign in everyday life.
